Tidy Towns group slams Ballyleague littering

Ballyleague Tidy Towns group has slammed recent incidents of littering near to the local marina, and said some members of the community have shown “scant regard” for their efforts to keep the area clean.

In a statement to the Roscommon People this week, the group said: “Despite the Trojan efforts of our Tidy Towns volunteers in endeavoring to keep the area, and most notably the marina area clean and welcoming for visitors and locals alike, there are some in the community or beyond who show scant regard for our efforts. They bring their grass cuttings and dump them at this site instead of emptying their bags and removing them.

“Furthermore, the compound is not for public use but its intended purpose of just being used for grass cuttings from the marina area is been abused to such an extent that the local Tidy Towns committee are evaluating the benefit of the composter, as it appears as per the picture attached to be a magnet for litter”.
