Impressive Connacht showing!
Roscommon Athletics Club gave an impressive showing at the recent Connacht Cross Country even ages event in Sligo on October 29th. U-12 Hazel Kelly ran a superb race and finished second, followed closely by Anna Kiernan and Etaine Moran. Luke Fannon performed well in the boys’ competition.
At U-16 level, Ciara Carr claimed tenth place while U-18s Maeve Dervin and Keela Farnon finished 2nd and 10th respectively. In the boys’ event, Oisin Stephens finished 6th. Brian O’Malley, meanwhile, was delighted to take bronze in the U-20s category.
At the uneven ages competition on November 5th, Amy Winston, Siofra Hession and Olivia Costelloe finished 11th, 12th and 16th respectively in the U-11s event while Luke Fannon, Jack Hennigan and Odin Fallon finished mid-pack in the boys’ competition as did TJ Smyth in the U-13 event.
Ciara Carr made 11th place in the U-15 category while Keela Farnan and Alisha Kerr finished 12th and 14th respectively. Maeve Dervin certainly didn’t disappoint and stormed to gold in the U-19s. Congratulation also to the U-11 girls who won a bronze medal as members of the county team.
Ciara Carr and Maeve Dervin have qualified for both the even and uneven ages All-Ireland finals and Keela Farnan who has also qualified for both in her first year of competitive athletics.

We begin our weekly golf round in Roscommon where the poor weather conditions led to a very quiet week!
The ladies completed their 9-hole competition however, with Kay Ruane claiming first place with 19 points.
The first round of the men’s Winter League has finished. Leading the field are PJ Higgins and George Burke on 179 points, second are Seamus O’Reilly and Michael Sharkey on 162 points, third are JT Finn and Charlie Brennan on 159 points and fourth are Alan Craven and Kevin Kenny on 156 points. The top eight teams after round two will enter the match play stage of the competition to decide the winners.
To Athlone where the recent winners were: Bill Kennedy (Turkey competition), Shane Connaughton (Gents’ 15-hole stableford), R King (AWGS on November 23rd) and Eleanor Larkin (Ladies’ 12-hole competition which took place Saturday, 18th to Tuesday 21st of November).
Flanagan’s are tops
Flanagan’s are leading the way in the Roscommon Darts League following their thumping 8-1 win over Creaton’s last weekend. Kieran McCormack chipped in with a 123 check-out.
The Holly Tree are now four points behind in second place following their 6-3 defeat to McDermott’s although Mick Egan was in fine form, hitting two 180s and 15 and 17 dart legs.
Molly’s match against The Hollywood was called off and with only two rounds left until Christmas, The Hollywood Bar remain rooted to the bottom of the league on 13 points.

Rosaleen Fallon had the best nett score on November 13th while Marie Naughton claimed best gross.
Ann Martin finished first on November 20th while Ann O’Brien was the winner most recently.
