Annual Rooskey Cycle for Hospice

The annual Rooskey fundraising cycle in aid of Mayo/Roscommon Hospice takes place on Sunday, September 23rd with registration at 8 am at the old school in Rooskey.

  The 92km cycle commences at 9.30 am; 58 km cycle at 9.40 am and 20km cycle at 9.50 am. Entry is €20 single and €30 for a family and helmets are compulsory.

  All are welcome to join the cycle. Donations especially appreciated. Contact 087-6575272 for more information.

Memorial Darts Competition in Boyle

The James (Lal) Woods Memorial Darts Competition will take place in the Moylurg Inn, Boyle on Saturday, July 28th at 7 pm. Entry is €10.  

  There will be a raffle and spot prizes on the night. All proceeds in aid of Roscommon/Mayo Palliative Care Services. Please support.

Parents of LGBT+ people support group

Are you the parent of a person who is LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender) and would like some support? TLC (Tuisitheoirí Le Chéile) is a peer support group facilitated by volunteers who provide a confidential space for parents.

  The group will meet on the last Monday of each month in the Melting Pot in Roscommon town from 7 to 9 pm. 

  The next meeting will take place on Monday, July 30th. For more information, please call 087-8979280. Supported by Roscommon LEADER Partnership Company (Social Inclusion Community Action Programme).

Kilteevan Graveyard Mass

The annual Kilteevan Graveyard Mass followed by the blessing of the graves will take place on Saturday, July 28th at 7.30 pm.

  The annual collection for the maintenance of the graveyard will also take place on the day. Mass will be celebrated as usual on Sunday, July 29th at 10 am.

RSPCA Church Gate collections

The Roscommon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is holding its annual Church Gate collections on Saturday, 28th and Sunday, 29th at the following Churches: Kilglass, Slatta and Rooskey.

  If you can volunteer an hour of your time, please contact the organisation on 087-050 5594. All money raised goes directly to animal welfare in County Roscommon.

Praying a Public Rosary in Roscommon

All are welcome to pray a public Rosary for Ireland at 4 pm on Saturday, August 11th in the grounds of the Sacred Heart Church in Roscommon town.

  This event is coordinated nationally by Ireland Needs Fatima. Contact Mary Fallon for more details on 085-8503191.

Outdoor performance at The Bishop’s Palace

The Pilgrim Players’ inaugural production of Much Ado About Nothing will take place in the grounds of Edmondstown House in Ballaghaderreen from Friday, August 17th and run until Sunday, August 19th.

  Audiences are invited to pack a picnic and come to The Bishop’s Palace to enjoy an outdoor festival performance of Shakespeare’s best-loved rom-com.
