A man in his 50s appeared at Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on Tuesday afternoon following the discovery of €124,000 worth of cannabis herb at what was believed to be a “sophisticated grow house” in Boyle.
Gardaí attached to the Longford and Roscommon Drugs Unit made the discovery shortly after 12 pm on Monday last following a search of a house in the area.
During the course of the search, Gardaí uncovered a sophisticated grow house
where three rooms had been adapted to the cultivation of cannabis plants. 55 cannabis plants at various stages of maturity as well as 4kg of harvested cannabis herb were recovered.
According to Gardaí, the estimated street value of all drugs seized is €124,000. The drugs have been sent for analysis.
A man (50s) was arrested during the search operation and taken to Castlerea Garda Station where he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. He was charged and appeared before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on Tuesday.
