It was an historic day for the parish of Kilbride last Saturday when their Junior ladies defeated the Galway Junior champions Milltown in the semi-final of the Connacht Junior Championship and secured themselves a place in the Connacht final next weekend with an incredible win of 6-8 to 4-12. It was a game of two halves with the wind being a decisive factor for both sides. The Kilbride girls dominated the first half playing some wonderful football and giving themselves an eight-point lead at half-time, but the game was by no means over. Milltown came back hard in the second half, putting Kilbride under serious pressure, sending the game into extra-time. Kilbride were not to be defeated on home soil however and put a goal and 3 points on the scoreline in extra-time while Milltown replied with a goal and 1 point. The final whistle sounded, relief for both supporters and the team, the Kilbride Ladies march on again! The Connacht final will be played against Curry, the Sligo champions in Kilbride next Sunday, 21st October at 2 pm.
