The Knockcroghery Hospice Support Group would like to sincerely thank everyone for their continued support of the group’s annual ‘Let Love Shine A Light For Hospice’ Christmas tree. The amount raised from sponsored candles, ‘Shine A Light’ Christmas cards and donations was a very impressive €6,410.01 and will go towards local palliative care services.
Local organiser, Jackie Doyle, said: “We are overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity of the people who support us and this very worthy cause, especially this year with Covid-19 being so prominent.
“Due to Covid restrictions, Fr. Ray Milton performed a private blessing of the tree as part of the virtual switching on ceremony last year. We would like to thank Fr. Ray sincerely for all his help and his dedication to our efforts on behalf of Mayo Roscommon Hospice.
“Just like in years before, our Remembrance Book was placed on the altar during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day and all the names entered into the book were included in Christmas Masses.
“Last Christmas we also welcomed the addition of Christmas lights to the trees on the Fair Green in Knockcroghery by our local village enhancement group, Project Knockcroghery. We very much look forward to working with them again in the future”.
