In a welcome and overdue boost for businesses in Roscommon and nationally, indoor dining will resume on Monday next, 26th of July.
Indoor hospitality will be a reality again for those who are fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19 in the past six months as well as for children under the age of 18 who are accompanied by an eligible adult.
There will be no time limits for customers to adhere to. Closing time will be pushed back to 11.30 pm. The Government says it will also develop an QR app which will enable business owners to check customers’ Covid certificates at the door of a pub or restaurant.
Up to six people will be allowed to sit at tables which must be kept one metre apart. There is still uncertainty over the issue of counter service and whether that will be permitted under the new guidelines.
It is expected that the new guidelines will place an emphasis on the need for CO2 monitors and air extractors.
President Michael D Higgins signed off on the legislation yesterday (Wednesday). The Health Amendment No 2 Bill 2021 was passed by the Dáil and Seanad last week.
