Dooner’s weekend predictions – September 29th


This weekend sees the big guns from the RDFL in action in the FAI Junior Cup second round. Confidence will be high following impressive Roscommon performances in last year’s cup competitions.

Ballinasloe Town B v CP Ajax

The Castleplunkett outfit were thumped at home last weekend by Kilkerrin and may find the going tough against an in form Ballinasloe side.

Saturday, September 30th

Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two

Cloonfad United B v Cam Celtic. 7.30 pm

The visitors get the nod for this one. Prediction: Cam Celtic

Shiven Rovers B v Glen Celtic. 7.45 pm

Both sides struggled last time out and there appears very little between them so far.

Sunday, October 1st

Umbro FAI Junior Cup Round 2 (2 pm unless stated)

Boyle Celtic v St. John’s FC. 11 am

Celtic scraped past Moore last weekend but will be hoping for another run in this year’s Junior Cup.

Castlerea Celtic v Shiven Rovers

It’s difficult to look past the home side.

Ballymoe FC v Manor Rangers

The RDFL champions have struggled so far this season but this could be the kick-start they need.

The Connacht champions should edge this.

Home advantage should swing it for the Premier Division side.

Glenview have turned a corner in recent weeks and should provide stern opposition.
