Curraghboy horse retires after Tipperary success

Bertie Mannion’s horse ‘Thisonesforollie’, which was named for his brother Ollie Mannion, who sadly passed away in 1997, has been retired following a successful career which was capped with a win in the Beginner’s Steeplechase in Tipperary on July 18th.

Bred in Whitepark, Curraghboy, Co. Roscommon by Bertie and Kathleen Mannion, Thisonesforollie was the last foal of Toniberoli, a mare owned by Bertie and his late brother, Ollie.

In memory of Ollie, the foal was named Thisonesforollie and rode in the Roscommon colours.

During her career, she enjoyed success on the point-to-point circuit, where she won twice over hurdles as well as placing numerous times over fences. Her career culminated in what was to be her last run out in Tipperary on July 18th, where she won the Beginners’ Steeplechase under a cool and patient ride by Denis O’Regan.

Thisonesforollie has now been retired to stud and resides in Whitepark, Curraghboy. This one was for you Ollie Mannion!
