Deputy Denis Naughten has welcomed the fact that the first three broadband connection points in Creeve, Gortaganny and Tulsk have now gone live, providing high-speed broadband hotspots in those communities.
At the end of last month, the high-speed broadband connections at Creeve Community Centre, Gortaganny Resource Centre and Tulsk Digi Hub went live, and these connection points are now available to the public as part of the National Broadband Plan.
Deputy Naughten said: “These three locations are the first of fifteen across Roscommon and East Galway. Others will be coming on stream over the coming weeks to provide communities with free, high-speed Internet access at publicly accessible sites, pending the delivery of fibre cable to homes”.
Senator Aisling Dolan of Fine Gael said: “This will make a big difference to the communities of Creeve, Gortaganny and Tulsk. During this pandemic, the majority of people are working from home and they need fast and reliable broadband. Now they will be able to go to their local community, resource centre or a Digi Hub and have access to free high-speed Internet access”.
