Barstool Boyos – 12th of March

So, can we all agree on the image of the week?

It was the image of the week…

It was the image of the year!

It was some photo!

What amazed me was how close together they were!

Yeah…that struck me too…but be that as it may…there was something hypnotic about it…peaceful…even spiritual!

Yeah…but they were SO close…

It was actually lovely to see them together…the sky their limit…

It was some image…

I believe the photographer was waiting for years to capture them together…

I can imagine!

And what a location! I actually know Lough Fennell…

Huh?

Where those starlings rose into the sky…forming that perfect…murmuration, I think they call it. What an image! Stunning, uplifting, spiritual, beautiful!

OH! The wee birds coming together in that dramatic moment in Mullingar!? I thought you were on about the two world famous leaders meeting at the weekend…THAT’S the image I was on about…

Look, Pep and Ole have often met before! I get that Manchester United and City have huge followings, but…

NO! The Pope! The Pope and the Grand Ayatollagh, meeting in Iraq!

Oh, THEM!

Yes, THEM! THAT’S the image I’VE been talking about!

I saw it! Mmnn…two old men sitting in a room with their hands on their knees…

Yeah, but it was quite historic!

THEY were quite close together…and they weren’t wearing masks!

Yeah, I know…but I suppose they were a few feet apart.

The body language wasn’t great…

Hey, it was just a quick photo opp. The main thing is, they had a meeting.

No doubt ‘constructive’…isn’t that what the politicians always say?

Anyways, who is he?

Well, he’s leader of the world’s Catholic Church and…

No, not the Pope! The other guy!

He’s Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani!

Go on…

He’s the leading spiritual leader of Iraqi Shia Muslims, and one of the most senior clerics in Shia Islam…

You googled that, didn’t you?

Look, he’s a very important leader…and the main thing is, they both called for peace, and highlighted the sacredness of human life.

Good on them, but maybe facemasks next time!

(They pause to reflect on the impact a good photo can have, and vow to pose for Mick McCormack in their local when the pubs reopen)

That image reminded me of the wonder of God…

Yeah, two men of faith and purpose and…

No! The starlings! The starlings rising into the sky above Mullingar!

Oh yeah…magical. And Pep and Ole?

Oh they are stars in their own right, sure thank God for the football during lockdown.

Indeed. Anyways, are you keeping well, my friend?

I’m good. And you?

We’re getting there…and summer is coming!

(They pause to imagine a wonderful summer, with long walks, humming lawnmowers, and barbeques in the gardens of Roscommon…)

Still, it’s no joke…I mean, obviously he’s done a good job to date, and last weekend was evidence of that…but he has some responsibility, some weight on his shoulders, some job on his hands…

Huh?

Trying to lead millions of followers towards paradise…

Hold it! Which of them? The Pope? The Grand Ayatollah?

Eh..no…I meant Ole Gunnar Solskjær!
