San Fran Pro Stop

St. Coman’s’ Fiona Tully travelled all the way to San Francisco to take part in her first ever 40x20 Pro Stop (professional) tournament. Despite being the youngest competitor in the event, Fiona impressed onlookers by reaching the semi-finals where she was beaten by current All-Ireland Ladies Senior champion and multiple Pro Stop winner, Catriona Casey from Cork.

Roscommon competed in three 40x20 Doubles Connacht finals over the weekend, unfortunately there was just one winner from the county.

The Lisacul-St. Coman’s pairing of Gordon Nolan and Michael Egan were victorious in their Junior ‘B’ encounter with an Inis Oirr’s Naoise Ó Flatharta and Mairtin Seoighe  on a scoreline of 21-16, 21-7 to complete an impressive Connacht campaign.

The Ladies Junior ‘B’ pairing of Laura Mannion and Aoife McDonagh, another St. Coman’s-Lisacul collaboration, were very unlucky in their match with Sligo’s Laura Finn and Sarah Coleman, losing out 21-15, 20-21, 12-21.

Ladies Junior doubles Linda Connolly and Siobhan Tully were well beaten (10-21, 6-21) by strong Galway pair Eimear Ni Bhiadha and Aisling Ni Mhaoileain in Aughagower, Co. Mayo last Saturday.

Meanwhile, there were three matches in the Juvenile ‘B’ County championships in Lisacul last Sunday morning.

In the ‘match of the day’, Lisacul’s Sean Corrigan overcame the tough challenge of St. Coman’s’ Luke Shally in a terrific U-11 encounter, 15-9, 9-15, 15-13.

In the U-11 doubles, St. Coman’s’ Cormac Naughton and Seamie Carthy beat Lisacul’s John Reilly and Niall McGreal 15-9, 15-12 in a competitive affair.

The Girls U-12 doubles saw St. Coman’s’ Ella Bailey and Shona Kennedy beating Lisacul’s Grace Melvin and Sarah McDermott 15-0, 15-3.
