The Roscommon People understands that Elphin GAA club man Mick Rock is to run for the Presidency of the GAA. An official announcement, however, will not be made until later in the year. It is believed that the former Connacht Council President has been thinking about the move for a number of months.
Mick Rock has served a number of prominent roles for his club Elphin, at Roscommon County Board level and also at provincial level over the years and would be attempting to become the third Roscommon man to rise to the top position in the association following in the footsteps of Dan O’Rourke (1946-1949) and Dr. Donal Keenan (1973-1976). The new President-elect, who will succeed John Horan, will be chosen at the GAA Congress in the spring of 2020.
