This follows considerable confusion and anxiety which had been generated by a report in a Sunday newspaper which had incorrectly advised that the expiry date for registering such claims with the PRA was 30th November 2012.  Roscommon IFA Co. Chairman, Mr. John O’Beirne, said: “The report over the weekend alarmed many farmers, who feared they were facing a very tight deadline to claim Rights of Way by applying to the PRA. In fact, that report was erroneous and the relevant deadline was extended last year to end-November 2021. This has been confirmed by the PRA today.

Numbers were well increased this week. The prices for Heifers were similar while the trade for the Bullocks were well especially for the quality lots. There were also a good number of Cows with calves at foot on offer. Prices for Dry Cows were well maintained with a full clearance. There was also a good trade for Weanlings. However two recent thefts of stock in Frenchpark and the apprehension of two men after the theft of farm machinery from Lecarrow emphasises the continuing need for farmers to be vigilant and report suspicious activity.
