Unfortunately, as usual, this requires me to fly. Living on an island, we have the choice to swim or fly, but I am panicking already. Some people claim that things should get easier the more times you do them, but in my case it’s not like that. I wasn’t in the least scared on my first flight because I didn’t know what to expect. After taking more flights, instead of being more experienced, I started to panic more. I heard that people, as they get older, get more clever, but with me I get worse and worse. When I even start to think about flying, about being stuck in an enclosed space in the sky for three hours, even my writing gets worse. I wrote a lot about this weird phobia in the past and here I am writing about it again. Some psychologists think that writing can be therapeutic, so maybe it’s time to analyse my flying phobia. Let’s start from the beginning.

I don’t mean all this show business stuff, including MTV and suchlike, I mean actually what part of our life does music hold and if it wouldn’t be possible to exist without it. I even started thinking what it was like before music was invented, because I am quite sure that music has existed forever.

This was definitely a man’s point of view. Now, women have changed and no one believes that a woman’s work starts in the shop, followed by a kitchen full of dishes and ending on the couch with the children. Women of 2011 have greater needs and they are less patient. Valentine’s Day is on the horizon and so guys, this column is a must-read.

Huge tears were flowing down my face and I couldn’t stop them. Don’t fear, nothing bad had happened, I had just opened my mailbox and discovered a message from my cousin who lives in Poland. The message was called ‘Invaluable’, so I started thinking that it was some kind of weird message about internet shopping, but thank God I was wrong. My cousin Pavel, (hello Pavel – I know he probably won’t be reading Roscommon People, but it’s nice to say hello to someone), this lovely man sent me a set of really, really old pictures that he had developed from negatives. The pictures were taken in the 70s, last century, by his father Roman. Of course, I also send greetings to him, why not? (Unfortunately I don’t know the type of camera it was, but it was definitely some kind of Russian invention). As I looked at the pictures, I started to cry.

Standing in the midst of all the people listening to Christmas carols, it was very easy to get into the Christmas spirit and I even have to confess that afterwards, even my soul was warmed up. Something else happened, as we returned home, for the second time in my life I saw a shooting star. It’s a tradition that when you see a shooting star, you should make a wish. I did it, but I can’t tell you what it is because if I tell it won’t come true.

So, if we want to minimise our chance of this serious disease, we should avoid stress. But we all know that it’s not that simple. We get angry a few times each day for different reasons. So how, given that we live in a stressful environment, can we minimise stress? The simple answer, which comes into my head straight away, is just change this environment. But this is almost impossible, so how, living in the here and now, can we help our hearts. I have one proposal, I call it the yippie-i-ay method.
