Roscommon Stroke Support Group bag packing day!
Roscommon Stroke Support Group are having a bag packing day at Tesco, Roscommon on Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th. We would be grateful if you could spare an hour or two.
All proceeds go towards our Roscommon Stroke survivor support group. It provides weekly exercise and social therapy in Hannon’s Hotel, Roscommon every Tuesday from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm, along with information and outings throughout the year.

Historical Society lecture on Herdsmen
A meeting of the Co. Roscommon Historical & Archaeological Society will take place at 8 pm on Tuesday, October 8th in The Percy French Hotel, Strokestown.
Following this, at 8.30 pm, a lecture entitled ‘A Class Quite Distinct – West of Ireland Herdsmen in the 19th century’, will be given by John Cunningham, Belclare, Galway.
John is Director of the MA History Programme at NUI Galway and a recent editor of Saothar: Journal of Irish Labour History. He is currently writing the biography of Tom Glynn (1881-1934), the son of a herdsman from Gurteen, Co. Galway who became a notable radical journalist and anti-war campaigner in Australia. All are welcome.
Blessing of the Animals this Sunday
A Blessing of the Animals will take place this Sunday at The Friary in Athlone at 3 pm. There will be a cake sale and refreshments served in the garden afterwards.
All animals are welcome. Owners are asked to keep cats in carriers and dogs on leads. Owners can bring a photograph/herd number of the pet or animal to be blessed. This is a fundraiser in aid of the Athlone SPCA and the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. All support welcome.
Fundraiser for Athleague Apostolic Workers
Athleague Apostolic Workers are holding their annual fundraiser/raffle in aid of the Missions on Sunday, October 13th in Hamrock’s Lounge after 10 am Mass. Donations of cakes/tarts/jams will be gratefully accepted at Hamrock’s before Mass.
Lines cost €2 each or 3 for €5. 1st prize is a hamper sponsored by Martin Conneally, 2nd prize is €100 and 3rd prize is a bottle of brandy. There will also be other prizes on the day. All monies raised will go directly to The Missions and your support would be greatly appreciated.
Breastfeeding peer support at Trinity Arts Centre
A breastfeeding peer support group meets every Wednesday morning from 10.30 am to 12 noon at the Trinity Arts Centre, Castlerea.
A Baby and Toddler Group also meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 10 am to 12 noon in the Trinity Arts Centre. All welcome.
Family Drop-In Clinic at Riverside House
A Family Drop-In Clinic in association with the Castlerea Community and Family Resource Centre, takes place at Riverside House, Castlerea from 9.30 am to 12 noon every Tuesday during the school term.
This drop-in service is open and free of charge to all parents who may want to seek advice or guidance on any issue relating to home life.
