Mass for Healing in Curraghboy

A special Mass for Healing will take place in Our Lady Star of the Sea Prayer Centre, Curraghboy, Athlone on Thursday, June 14th, commencing at 8 pm. The Celebrant will be Fr. John Walsh.

  Confessions will take place from 7 pm prior to the commencement of Holy Mass and individual blessings will take place after Mass. All are most welcome. Contact 086-4054489 for more information.

Praying of the Rosary at Sacred Heart Church

Connacht Rugby Camp in Dunmore!


This year’s Dunmore Connacht Rugby Camp is running from the 23rd to the 27th of July at Dunmore rugby pitch.

  The camps, which are usually a sell-out success, run from 9.15 am-1.30 pm and cater for all children aged 6-12.

  No rugby experience necessary, all camps are run by accredited IRFU coaches. Children will get a chance to make new friends, learn new skills and have lots of fun.

RSPCA church gate collections


Roscommon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is holding its annual church gate collection in Mantua this Saturday and Sunday (9th and 10th).

  Your support is greatly appreciated and all money raised goes to animal welfare in County Roscommon.

Historical & Archaeological Society meeting


A meeting of the Co. Roscommon Historical & Archaeological Society will take place on Tuesday, June 12th in The Percy French Hotel, Strokestown.

  The meeting will be followed at 8.30 pm by an illustrated lectured by Muireann Ni Ceallachain, co-director of the project on the recent excavations of a ring fort at Ranelagh, near Roscommon town on the Coolteigue N61 road scheme funded by the NRA.

  The lecture is entitled ‘Preliminary observations on the early medieval multi-phase settlement and burial ground at Ranelagh, Co. Roscommon’.

  Excavation findings and initial observations on the burial and artifact assemblage will be discussed by Muireann. All are welcome. Admission for non-members is €5.

Bumblebee monitoring in Castlecoote


A ‘Bumblebee Monitoring Workshop’ organised by Biodiversity Ireland and Tidy Towns will take place next Saturday (9th) in Castlecoote Community Centre starting at 11 am. A walk will take place on the Castlecoote Loop of the Suck Valley way in the Coillte forest.

  All are welcome to attend as well as other Tidy Towns groups who are interested in bees. There will be some focus on butterflies also. Please contact any member of Castlecoote Tidy Towns if you are interested in attending. 

St. Dominic’s GAA 50/50 winner


St. Dominic’s GAA Club congratulates Midgey Kilcline (Seller: Bernie Kilcline) who won €1,008 in the club’s weekly draw last Saturday.
