Senator Frank Feighan has welcomed total funding of €35,000 granted to the five agricultural shows which take place across the county every year.
“Castlerea, Elphin, Roscommon, Strokestown, along with Boyle Summer Show, will receive €7,000 each to help with the staging of their event next year. This funding is part of a national allocation of €812,000 by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, which will benefit agricultural shows throughout the country”.
Senator Maura Hopkins also expressed delight at the news.
Cllr. Liam Callaghan has also welcomed the news, stating: “This is great news for the many show committees throughout the country. In Roscommon alone, Roscommon, Elphin, Strokestown, Castlerea and Boyle Summer Show will all qualify for funding of €7,000 each.
“This is great reward to the superb committees who have worked so hard to ensure the Roscommon shows are the highlight of the outdoor events in the county every year”.
