St. Brigid’s GAA Club is running an OSKARS night on Saturday, June 9th at the Hodson Bay Hotel to raise funds for the installation of floodlights on a third pitch in Kiltoom.

  Seven ten minute scenes from well-known movies/TV programmes such as The Shawshank Redemption, Sister Act, Rocky, The Field, The Snapper, Fr. Ted and A Few Good Women will be shown on the night.

  For the past few weeks, 70 local actors have been rehearsing including well-known stars such as Ian Kilbride (Rocky), Aengus O’Rourke (The Field) and David Gleeson (Fr. Ted).

  Each cast is busy organising fundraisers ahead of the event with some events happening in next week including: Choir Fest this Friday in Hodson Bay Hotel at 8.30 pm. This event features well-known choirs such as Mayo Men’s Choir, St. Brigid’s Choir, Le Chéile and Ballybay School Choir. Tickets are €10 and you can pay at the door.

  The Field cast is also hosting a monster BBQ and Boogie Bingo this Sunday (20th) in Hamrock’s, Brideswell at 4.30 pm. The Liam MacCarthy Cup will be in attendance. Bingo with a difference costs €10 for adults and €5 for children. Everyone is welcome.

  The Sister Act cast will host a Style Night in the Sheraton Hotel next Thursday (24th) at 7.30 pm presented by stylist Kathryn Byrne. Tickets are €20 from Sylvia on 086-8031947, Helen on 087-6877629 or from the hotel.
