On October 4th, Roscommon Arts Centre welcomes two well-known faces to the stage when Brian Murray and Una Crawford, both familiar characters from RTE’s Fair City, join us for ‘Halycon Days’.
A nursing-home conservatory. Sean sits alone, abandoned to his memories. In storms Patricia, a feisty woman with a zest for life and for handsome men in wheelchairs. A wary intimacy develops between the two, an unforeseen relationship, by turns charming and combative, tender and funny.
This uplifting, bittersweet drama celebrates friendship and the human spirit. Infused with wry humour and humanity, Halcyon Days is a celebration of our quest for meaning in even the most seemingly hopeless of circumstances.
Written by well-known Irish playwright Deirdre Kinahan, whose work includes The Unmanageable Sisters, Rathmines Road, and the internationally renowned Moment, this humorous and touching play was first performed back in 2012, but it is only now touring nationally.
The show has been applauded for its “high degree of humour” from an “elegant writer” and with actors Brian and Una in the driving seat, audiences can be assured of a charming evening of theatre – the perfect start to any weekend.
Tickets are now on sale at box office on 090-6625824 and online at roscommonartscentre.ie.
