Come visit Lough Key Forest & Activity Park

There are flowers sprouting from the ground and leaf buds appearing on the trees, showing you that Spring has arrived at Lough Key Forest Park!  Lough Key has for many centuries drawn people from near and far to its spectacular views, abundant wildlife, historic buildings and islands.  After major development this legendry backdrop of water, parkland and forest now encompasses a landmark cluster of unique attractions offering gentle leisurely pursuits or energetic activities.  Whatever you choose it is the perfect location to do as much or as little as you like!  The lakeside Visitor Centre is open all year round providing access to the activities.

The Boda Borg is a Swedish concept and totally unique to Ireland and indeed the world outside of its home country.  Boda Borg questing is a great way to spend a few fun filled hours with friends, family and work, team or class mates.  Once you enter the two storey weather independent house only teamwork, ingenuity, trial and error and skills you probably didn’t know you have will allow you to survive the challenges.  With 15 separately themed Quests such as ‘Strength’, ‘Connect’, ‘Farm’, ‘Ropes’, and ‘Balance’, there is something to suit everybody. Quests are divided into three separate colours each pertaining to a certain level of physical difficulty.  The Boda Borg is recommended for age 7 years and above. Could you be the first to beat all the quests?

The Lough Key Experience is a self guided audio tour, directing you through the original the 19th Century service tunnels to the top of the Moylurg Viewing Tower, providing 360 degree views of Lough Key Park and Estate.  You will also be taken among the trees on the Tree Canopy Trail, which gently rises 9 metres above the Park floor.  This construction is the first of its kind in Ireland and stretches for 300 metres giving you a bird’s eye view of the islands on the lake and parklands. The Lough Key Experience is suitable for all ages and is fully wheelchair accessible.  The narration is available in a number of languages.  The audio gives you an insight into what life was like when Rockingham House was a functional family home.  It also gives you a brief history of the estate and its owners.
