History Society meeting

A meeting of the County Roscommon Historical and Archaeological Society will take place on Tuesday, November 11th at 8.30 pm in the Dun Maeve Centre, Strokestown.

After the meeting a lecture will take place on the theme ‘Stone in my Time’ and will be given by Mr Barry Feeley of Feeleystone, Boyle. He will speak on the old methods of hand-tooling of stone and the modern computer guided machinery of today. Despite modernisation, old techniques still have their place. He will also speak on the quarries they use in Counties Mayo and Kilkenny.

Feeleystone are leading suppliers of architectural, monumental and housing stone with an added range of stone products. They deal with international markets and have over two hundred years experience in the stone trade, so Barry’s story should be of great interest to a diverse audience. All welcome.
