Knockcroghery Lecarrow Water Scheme Upgrade

The signing of a 4.44 million contract on Wednesday last is the first stage of the upgrade of the Knockcroghery Lecarrow public water scheme by Roscommon County Council.

Glenkill Civil Engineering Ltd. from Athlone have been appointed as the contractor on the project that will include the installation of new water mains, meters, valves and pumping stations to service the source at Toberogue and a new source for the scheme at Toberdan, Lecarrow.

In conjunction with the upgrading of a number of private group water schemes under a Design Build Operate contract, tenders for the installation of a number of new water treatment plants, including two plants for the Knockcroghery Lecarrow Scheme, will be returned by the end of this year.

The cost of this project is funded by The European Regional Development Fund, the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Roscommon County Council.
