Roscommon folk living in and around Dublin are invited to the 11.30 am Mass in the Franciscan Church, Merchants’ Quay, Dublin, on Sunday, 2nd November, All Souls’ Day.
The Mass, which has been celebrated annually since 1961, is organised by the Roscommon Association in Dublin to remember deceased members, supporters and Roscommon natives who made Dublin their adopted home.
The following who died since last year’s Mass will be particularly remembered: Michael Winston (a native of Marystown, Ballinlough) who was a long-serving Roscommon Association committee member; Maureen Giblin, wife of committee member Chris Giblin (Lisacul); and former members Peter Finnerty, MPSI (Frenchpark) and Kevin O’Grady (Mantua).
As well as honouring Dublin’s deceased Roscommon people, this will also be an opportunity for those attending to socialise afterwards at the now customary Sunday lunch at the nearby O’Shea’s Merchant Restaurant.
Also, Tuesday, November 11th will be Roscommon Night at Tom and Ann Maye’s Tavern, Dorset and North Frederick Streets, Dublin. The programme of events will include the launch of Roscommon Life 2008/2009 by Castlerea native and Irish Times columnist John Waters. See next week’s paper for full details.
