Huge variety of morning, evening and night classes to choose from throughout the county


County Roscommon VEC are offering a wide variety of night classes throughout the County.  Classes range from Computers to Childcare, Art and Crafts, Interior Design, Gardening and many more. Our night classes  generally run one night per week over a seven week period and commence at 8.00pm unless otherwise stated. Enrolment for all night classes (except Boyle) is on the first night and no pre-booking is required.   See our advertisement in this paper for further details.  


Computer courses range from Basic Introduction to Computers and Introduction to  Internet and E-mail  to  Computer Applications, Computerised Accounts (Tas Accounting Plus) and Manual and Computerised Payroll (Collsoft).     Computer classes are available in Roscommon, Castlerea, Boyle, Ballaghadereen, Strokestown and Elphin, while Payroll will be held in Roscommon and Computerised Accounts in Castlerea.


Our FETAC Level 5 childcare courses are ongoing in Roscommon, Castlerea and Boyle.


There is always great interest in our art and craft classes and this year we are offering Art for Adults at various venues throughout the County..  Many people discover a talent they were not even aware of at these classes, which opens up a whole new world of creativity and many hours of pleasure. Why not come along and see what you can do! 


After the summer holidays,  many of us are concentrating on our health and wellbeing.  Roscommon VEC offer classes in this area with Yoga in Castlerea, and Introduction to Holistic Therapy in Abbey Community College, Boyle.  Also our Seven Steps to achieving your Personal Best Image in Roscommon Community College will cover Beauty, Hair, Make-up, Clothes etc.

Twelve Steps Towards Sustainability – Dialogue and Exploration 

This course will cover topics like Who Are We Anyhow; The Future of Food – we are what we eat; Water; Solar; Transport and Housing – limitations and possibilities; Footprint and Future generations – will we be remembered as “The Waste Age”  The course will include two guest facilitators over the 7 weeks and commences Wednesday, 24th Sept at 8.00pm in Roscommon Community College

Other new and interesting night courses include Beginners Lessons in Russian in Abbey Community College Boyle on Thursday 25th September at 8.00pm (Registration night Thurs 18th Sept at 8.00pm);  Arc Welding in Ballaghadereen; and Furniture Restoration in Castlerea and Boyle.  Also our Seven Steps to Achieving Your Personal Best Image in Roscommon Community College.


An enrolment night will be held for all classes in Abbey Community College, Boyle on Thursday 18th  September at  8.00pm.  Enrolment for all classes in Roscommon, Elphin, Castlerea and  Ballaghadereen will take place on the first night of the class.

Our Part-time courses offer Flexible Learning Opportunities for young people and adults to gain Nationally Recognised Formal Qualifications.  Flexibility is the key word with courses offered in the mornings/afternoons and evenings, giving people the opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities.  New Major FETAC Level 5 Awards on offer this year are Retail Studies, Healthcare Support and Tourism.  Many individual subjects / modules such as Computer Literacy, Tourism Enterprise, Retail Display, Customer Services, Basic Psychology and Art and Design are available in various locations throughout the County.  Our Part-time courses are FREE OF  CHARGE to those with less than Leaving Cert Education / Medical Card Holders / Social Welfare Recipients or dependants, otherwise a charge of €175 per course applies.  For further  details see our advertisement in this paper or phone Stephanie or Sabrina on 090-6634189 


Our Adult Basic Education Service offers help with basic reading, writing, spelling, maths and computers in small groups of students in a friendly informal environment.  Classes run in Roscommon, Boyle and Ballaghadereen.  Help is also available on a one to one basis if required.
