Premier division deciders
This Sunday sees the last series of games being played in the Ruby Oil-sponsored Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League with the winners and relegation issue yet to be decided.
Going into this weekend’s games, Ballinasloe Town have a three-point lead over nearest rivals Dysart. A single point from their last game would see them retain the Premier Division title. Ballinasloe Town travel to play Castlerea Celtic while Dysart face a difficult game away to Cloonfad United. Dysart will not find it easy to beat Cloonfad United away from home, but they should be capable of winning. In the event of Dysart winning and Ballinasloe Town losing, then the title will be decided by a play-off between the sides.
Third from bottom Glen Celtic travel to Skyvalley Rovers hoping for a win that will give them a play-off spot. They are a point better off than neighbours Kilkerrin United going into the last games. Kilkerrin United are at home to Shiven Rovers and like Glen Celtic, they need to win. The team with the highest number of points will play Rahara Rovers for a place in the Premier Division next season.
The Division 1 Cup Final will be played on Sunday with the venue to be decided. Ballinasloe Town B is already through to the final and they play either Strokestown United or St. John’s Athletic in the final.
DIvision two decider:
Saturday sees Loughglynn United take on Lisnamult Celtic in the Division Two Cup final. The game takes place at the Shiven Rovers ground in Newbridge at 6.30 pm
The game sees Lisnamult Celtic take on league champions Loughglynn United in the final. Loughglynn United were far the best side in the Division Two all season and will start slight favourites to add the Division Cup to the Division Two championship.
Lisnamult Celtic finished in the play-off spot and had a good win over Laurencetown in the semi finals, and with both sides having a good scoring record it should be a good game.
Prediction: United for the double.
