Presentation night for Boyle Ladies will be held in St. Joseph’s Hall Boyle on Saturday 26th January at 8pm. Buffet food will be served on the night, with full bar and music provided by The Conquerors.

Presenting the medals on the night will be local All Ireland Minor champion of 2006, Cian Smith. Tickets €25 are available from committee members. A great night is anticipated and your support would be much appreciated.



Congratulations to Jimmy Kenny, Tom Moylette and Noel Daly who were members of the 1965 county Junior Hurling team honoured at the Roscommon All-Ireland Hurling Presentations night. Congratulations to all concerned and compliments to the County Hurling Board.

We extend sincere sympathy to the McDonald Family, formerly Main St, on the death of Mrs Claire McDonald wife of former club chairman, the late Jack McDonald.

Minor club AGM is on Friday 18th January 2008 at 9pm in Elphin Day Care Centre. Parents, players all interested in under-age football are encouraged to attend.

After 4 years as chairman Gerry Connellan stepped down but will remain on the executive as registrar. Best wishes to Mick Feeley who takes over as chairman. Presentation of medals by Fergal O’Donnell to the Minor winning team will take place in the Clubhouse on Saturday 26th January starting with Mass at 8.30pm. All welcome.

There will be a Ceilí in the clubhouse next Saturday night 19th January music by Matt Cunningham.



Minor Football – Training Wednesday night at 7pm in Dr Hyde Park with a game on Friday night Vs St Aidan’s in Ballyforan.

Indoor hurling on Friday 18th January in the Convent Gym. U-8’s & U-10’s 4 - 5pm, U-12’s 5 - 6pm, U-14 hurling training Sunday from 2.30 - 3.30 pm. For details contact Neil McDermott.

Camogie: A meeting will be held in the Hyde Centre on Thursday night 17th January at 8pm.

Membership for 2008 has been set at €80 family, €60 single, Student €50 and Juvenile €40 and now payable to any officer. In 2008 all players who play for the club at any level must be registered.

Caoimhe McManus will represent the County in the recitation section in the Connacht Final of Scor in Claremorris next Saturday. Well-done Caoimhe.

St. Barry’s club AGM takes place in the Centre on Friday 18th. All members are asked to attend.

Remember to continue to sell tickets for the major development draw due to take place on Easter Sunday night. It is vital that some tickets are sold each week.

Sympathy is extended to Teresa McGlynn, Kilbarry on the death of her uncle Seamus Smyth, Edgesworthtown. May he rest in Peace.



On Saturday last, the greats of St. Croans and Glinsk/Creggs football came out of retirement and donned their football gear to raise money for the Maria Watt Birmingham Fund. Maria Watt, aged 17 lost her battle with leukaemia in July 2005 and her family, who have connections with Glinsk, established the foundation, which provides support for patients with childhood and teenage leukaemia. Local Garda Tom Cunningham was the principle organiser of the event and a substantial amount of money was raised thanks to the generosity of those who attended the event. It was a game of two halves. Glinsk were convincing winners. Thanks to all who supported the event and Garvey’s for providing refreshments after the game.

Next weekend the lotto will be promoted by Padraig Grogan and Padraig Regan in Ballintubber and Pat Flynn and Ronan Collins in Ballymoe.

The club would like to thank Heavy’s shop in Ballymoe for their kind sponsorship of the refreshments for the recent underage presentation.



A huge attendance gathered for our annual Parish Dinner Dance. Guest of Honour was Dermot Early. Canon Lavin Chairman on behalf of the Club presented the County Board with the new Jamesie Murray Cup that will now be the Cup for the Intermediate Football Championship.

Winners of the Intermediate championship in 2007 were then presented with their Medals be Dermot Early. Tom Gately captain of the winning team presented manager John McGowan and selectors Kevin Mullarney, Tom Gilleran and John Caulfield with a replica of the Jamesie Murray Cup in appreciation of their work. There was also a presentation to the four Hurling players who won All-Ireland Medals with Roscommon in 2007 Liam Murray, Brendan Hanly, Mark Miley and Alan Craven. Canon Murray on behalf of the Murray Family thanked everyone involved with organising the Corn Jamesie Murray and said he was delighted that it was called the Jamesie rather than the Jimmy Murray Cup as that is what he was always called.

Scor County Finals took place in the Hyde on Sunday last. Pride of place goes to our Ballad group and Novelty Act who go on to the Connacht finals in Claremorris on Sunday so the best of luck to them. Ballad Group - Aoife Coyle, Clare Gillespie, Aisling O’Connor, Niamh Watson and Caroline Dowling. Novelty Act - James Murray, Michael Fallon, Clare Gilespie, Susan Gillespie, Aisling O’Connor, Caroline Dowling and Cathy Dervan.

Well done to Niall Byrne and Naos Connaughton who have made the panel for 2008 and to Liam Murray on being selected as Captain of the Co senior hurling team and Mark Miley on his promotion to Senior Goalkeeper.

St. Joseph's AGM takes place Friday 18th January in the clubhouse at 7.30pm sharp. All members are requested to attend. Weekend away to Monaghan on 1st - 3rd February. Final numbers and payment to Anthony McCormack by Friday 18th for those who wish to travel.



AGM of the club was held on January 6th. Chairman John Moffatt and Secretary Jim Donnellan gave a detailed review of events in the club over the past year and thanked all for their efforts. Joint Treasurers Frankie McKiernan and David Guckian gave a comprehensive report on the club’s income and expenditure which showed the club to be in a healthy financial situation. Tributes were paid to David Guckian who stepped down from this role, for his work over the past few years.

It was decided to set up a Finance Committee to co-ordinate fundraising activities within the club.

Membership rates remain unchanged: Family €30, Adult €25 and Student €10. All adult members are asked to join the club lotto by paying an annual subscription of €50.

Many tributes were paid to the late Dr. Hugh Gibbons. He was a founder member of St. Ronan’s club and he continued to be actively in the club affairs until his recent illness. May he rest in peace.



A great night was had by all at our social function in the Percy with music by Frank Nelson. The top prize in '300 club' draw of €10,000 was won by Martin McDermott of Doon, Strokestown. Congratulations to all the winners and a very sincere thanks to everyone who subscribed to the draw. Thanks also to James Glover, who represented Ireland in the Special Olympics last year, for drawing the winning tickets.

On Sunday 27th January the club will have the '2000' draw, top prize €2,000. The club would urge everyone with tickets to sell them all, as money raised from this draw will go towards the purchase of a defibrillator for the club.

Finally the club would like to extend its sympathy to the Moran family of Moher on the recent death of Mary Ellen.

The club expressed its sympathy to the families of Tom Lane, John Tiernan and Mattie Kilroy, former Tremane club players. The club also extended its sympathy to the Lohan family, Mote Park; the Melia family, Mote Park; the Killion family, Athleague; the Reynolds family, Ballymurray and the Gately family, Fearbreagues on their bereavements.

Tremane Hurling Club Annual Christmas Draw was held in Bridge House, Athleague on 4th January. Congratulations to all the winners. Tremane hurling club would like thank all the sponsors of the draw prizes and spot prizes and also, all ticket sellers and buyers who helped to make the draw a great success.




Our AGM will be held on Friday 18th at 8.30 pm in Waldron’s Athleague.



Friday 18th in Four Roads Hall from 8 - 9 pm is registration night for all underage players, it is important that all players attend.

On 19/20th the first round of the Suck Valley League commences. We are at home against Ballyhaunis. The managers will be in contact with all players of U-12, U-14, U-16 and minor.

Four Roads Hurling dinner dance takes place on 15th February in the Abbey Hotel more details will follow later.

On Saturday 12th January the presentation of the Nicky Rackard, U-21 B, and Division 3 medals took place in the Hodson Bay Hotel. A great night was had by all and on behalf of the club we would like to congratulate all the lads from Four Roads that received medals on the night.




Indoor Camogie continues on Friday 18th January at 7 pm sharp in the Community Centre, Athleague for all U-12 players.

There will be a first aid course taking place shortly; Teresa O’Brien & Marna Regan will take the course.

Seamus McDermott urged all members to sell lotto tickets, as it is very important to the club.

U-12 & U-14 training has now started in the Community Centre at 5 pm every Saturday. All players are asked to bring €2. U-16, Minor & Junior Training continues every Saturday at 6 pm.
