Presentation night for Boyle Ladies will be held in St. Joseph’s Hall

ST CROANS
On Saturday last,
the greats of St. Croans and Glinsk/Creggs football came out of retirement and
donned their football gear to raise money for the Maria Watt Birmingham Fund.
Maria Watt, aged 17 lost her battle with leukaemia in July 2005 and her family,
who have connections with Glinsk, established the foundation, which provides
support for patients with childhood and teenage leukaemia. Local Garda Tom
Cunningham was the principle organiser of the event and a substantial amount of
money was raised thanks to the generosity of those who attended the event. It
was a game of two halves. Glinsk were convincing winners. Thanks to all who
supported the event and Garvey’s for providing refreshments after the game.
Next weekend the lotto will be promoted by Padraig Grogan and
Padraig Regan in Ballintubber and Pat Flynn and Ronan Collins in Ballymoe.
The club would like to thank Heavy’s shop in Ballymoe for their kind
sponsorship of the refreshments for the recent underage presentation.
ST DOMINICS
A huge attendance
gathered for our annual Parish Dinner Dance. Guest of Honour was Dermot Early.
Canon Lavin Chairman on behalf of the Club presented the County Board with the
new Jamesie Murray Cup that will now be the Cup for the Intermediate Football
Championship.
Winners of the Intermediate championship in
2007 were then presented with their Medals be Dermot Early. Tom Gately captain
of the winning team presented manager John McGowan and selectors Kevin
Mullarney, Tom Gilleran and John Caulfield with a replica of the Jamesie Murray
Cup in appreciation of their work. There was also a presentation to the four
Hurling players who won All-Ireland Medals with Roscommon in 2007 Liam Murray,
Brendan Hanly, Mark Miley and Alan Craven. Canon Murray on behalf of the Murray
Family thanked everyone involved with organising the Corn Jamesie Murray and
said he was delighted that it was called the Jamesie rather than the Jimmy
Murray Cup as that is what he was always called.
Scor County Finals took place in the Hyde on
Sunday last. Pride of place goes to our Ballad group and Novelty Act who go on
to the Connacht finals in Claremorris on Sunday so the best of luck to them.

ST MICHAELS
AGM of the club was held on
January 6th. Chairman John Moffatt and Secretary Jim Donnellan gave
a detailed review of events in the club over the past year and thanked all for
their efforts. Joint Treasurers Frankie McKiernan and David Guckian gave a
comprehensive report on the club’s income and expenditure which showed the club
to be in a healthy financial situation. Tributes were paid to David Guckian who
stepped down from this role, for his work over the past few years.

STROKESTOWN
A great night was had by all at our social function in the Percy with
music by Frank Nelson. The top prize in '300 club' draw of €10,000 was won by
Martin McDermott of Doon, Strokestown. Congratulations to all the winners and a
very sincere thanks to everyone who subscribed to the draw. Thanks also to
James Glover, who represented Ireland in the Special Olympics last year, for
drawing the winning tickets.
On Sunday 27th January the club
will have the '2000' draw, top prize €2,000. The club would urge everyone with
tickets to sell them all, as money raised from this draw will go towards the
purchase of a defibrillator for the club.
Finally the club
would like to extend its sympathy to the Moran family of Moher on the
recent death of Mary Ellen.

January the presentation of the Nicky Rackard, U-21 B, and Division 3 medals
took place in the Hodson Bay Hotel. A great night was had by all and on behalf
of the club we would like to congratulate all the lads from Four Roads that
