Second-half blitz does trick for Creggs

Creggs 19 Longford 7

On one of the coldest nights of the year Creggs and Longford served up an excellent game last Saturday night. Longford started the better and they scored a converted try after 10 minutes after some strong pressure from the visitors told.

In fact Longford were the stronger team in the first half but they did not add to their tally after that and it was 7-0 at half-time. However Creggs were much better in the second half. Eight minutes into the half Barry Egan scored a great Creggs try after some excellent passing and despite the conversion being missed Creggs were playing much better now.

Mark Brandon was doing well at scrum-half and the pack were getting on top. In the 25th minute a good pass from Brandon released Bernard Kilcommons to score an excellent try which Brandon converted and with five minutes to go Kilcommons grabbed another try which Brandon again converted.

Best for Creggs were Mark Brandon, Bernard Kilcommons, veteran Kevin O’Rourke and Niall O’Mahoney.
