Busy time for Knockcroghery Macra

Members of the Knockcroghery Macra branch were busy over the last few months. The drama group are through to the regional finals in the Backstage Theatre in Longford. The title of this year’s play is ‘Are You Normal Mr. Norman’, and it was by performed by Trevor Brennan, who won Best Actor, Emma Corcoran, William Doyle, Anthony Beades, Lisa Murray and Tadhg Cormican. Once again, Ann Gillespie produced the play and she was rewarded with the Best Producer gong.

Over the last few weeks three teams from the club competed in the soccer competition, which was held in Strokestown. Knockcroghery’s A and B teams ended up in the final, a great achievement, and Team A was victorious.

Team B: Aisling Grady (captain), Micheal Brehony, Ciaran Hunt, Tadhg Cormican, Mark Miley, Enda Gilooly, Declan Keane. Team A: Emma Corcoran (captain), Jimmy Duignan, Liam Cormican, David Kilduff, Ronan Beattie, Trevor Brennan and Monica Burke. Trevor Brennan was awarded player of the tournament, so he can play football as well as act. John Kenny, County Chairman, presented the trophy to Emma Corcoran. The club would like to congratulate all who participated in the various activities over the past few months, including all who helped backstage at the drama finals. Best of luck to the group in the All Ireland finals.
