Members of the Knockcroghery Macra branch were busy
over the last few months. The drama group are through to the regional finals in
the Backstage Theatre in Longford. The title of this year’s play is ‘Are You
Normal Mr. Norman’, and it was by performed by Trevor Brennan, who won Best
Actor, Emma Corcoran, William Doyle, Anthony Beades, Lisa Murray and Tadhg
Cormican. Once again, Ann Gillespie produced the play and she was rewarded with
the Best Producer gong.
Over
the last few weeks three teams from the club competed in the soccer
competition, which was held in Strokestown. Knockcroghery’s A and B teams ended
up in the final, a great achievement, and Team A was victorious.

B: Aisling Grady (captain), Micheal Brehony, Ciaran Hunt, Tadhg Cormican, Mark
Miley, Enda Gilooly, Declan Keane. Team A: Emma Corcoran (captain), Jimmy
Duignan, Liam Cormican, David Kilduff, Ronan Beattie, Trevor Brennan and Monica
Burke. Trevor Brennan was awarded player of the tournament, so he can play
football as well as act. John Kenny, County Chairman, presented the trophy to
Emma Corcoran. The club would like to congratulate all who participated in the
various activities over the past few months, including all who helped backstage
at the drama finals. Best of luck to the group in the All Ireland finals.
