There is welcome news for the Roscommon U-16 football team as the Fr Manning Cup will revert to a single game competition this year as it was for many years before it was changed to a blitz format over the past few years. The news has been welcomed by Roscommon underage GAA officials.
The games will be played on Wednesday evenings starting from next week. The teams involved are Roscommon, Longford, Leitrim, Westmeath and Offaly. Speaking to The Roscommon People on Sunday evening last Roscommon minor board Chairman Ollie Kelly welcomed to news and he praised the work of the Fr Manning Cup Commityte who had persuaded Croke Park that a change to the original format would be for the benefit of underage football in the region.
