Local Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan has welcomed a total of more than 250,000 in funding to childcare providers across Roscommon and South Leitrim.
This capital funding will help local childcare providers to address remedial/maintenance/renovation work and/or invest in equipment for early education and childcare services, stated Deputy Feighan.
In County Roscommon, a total of 153,984 in total has been allocated to childcare settings. They are Roscommon Community Playgroup Limited, Henry Street, Roscommon Town (49,372); Jack and Jill Community Playgroup Ltd, Ballinlough (35,412); Tangier Tots, Boyle (30,020), Greenfields Childcare, Lisnamult Community Centre, Lisnamult (22,000) and Kilronan Community Preschool, Ballyfarnon (17,180).
In South Leitrim, three childcare providers were the recipient of 91,746 in funding. They are Annaduff Community Childcare Ltd (39,497); Eivers Lane Childcare Centre, Mohill (29,145) and Carrigallen Childcare Facility Ltd.
As Minister Frances Fitzgerald pointed out, the programme was oversubscribed and extremely competitive.
Unfortunately, not all applicants were successful and those successful were adjudged to represent the most complete, coherent, precise and compelling cases for funding, concluded Deputy Feighan.
