Allianz National Hurling League Division 2B: Roscommon v London in Athleague at 12.30 pm
This Sunday Roscommon hurlers will play their final league game of the Division 2B campaign when they entertain London at the earlier starting time of 12.30 pm. Before the first game in the league Roscommon manager Seamus Qualter told People Sport that he was anxious about the forthcoming campaign because he couldn’t get his full panel together for training for a variety of reasons and his fears have been realised as the team have been beaten in all their games so far.
London travel to Athleague with no chance of promotion, after winning only two of their four games to date. Roscommon and London have had a number of clashes over the past few years with both sides tasting success with London having had the edge in the last few clashes.
It will be the final chance for Seamus Qualter to have a look at his panel in preparation for the Nicky Rackard Cup later in the year. The fact that the match is in Athleague gives Roscommon the platform to finish their league campaign with a win, which would be a boost.
It has been a very disappointing campaign for Roscommon so far and relegation to Division 3A is now certain for 2013. However the Nicky Rackard Cup is now a legitimate aim for the Roscommon team and the preparations can begin with a good display and a positive result in Athleague on Sunday.
