Roscommon GAA Raceday is coming home!

Roscommon GAA will host Club Officer training for Club Chairpersons, Secretaries, Treasurers and PROs in the Percy French Hotel, Strokestown on Thursday March 22nd at 7.30 pm. The evening will begin with a combined introduction for all officers and this will be followed by specific sessions aimed at each Officer role. Clubs are reminded to confirm their attendance by emailing Hugh Lynn developmentofficer.roscommon@gaa.ie no later than this Friday, March 16th

Roscommon GAA will not be holding a Race Day fundraiser at the Punchestown Festival this year but will instead hold an event at Roscommon Races, as part of the evening meeting on Tuesday, August 7th. This is one of the most popular dates at the track and promises to be a very enjoyable evening. Further details will be announced nearer the time.

The Roscommon GAA Members Draw will be launched shortly and this year it will feature 33 prizes split over three draw, with the first draw taking place in May.

The Roscommon GAA History Committee have produced a draft plan of activities with the primary objective of publishing an updated written history of the GAA in the county. The previous edition of the book was published in 1990 and it is planned that the updated version will be release in 2014, which will be the 125th anniversary of the founding of the first County GAA Committee. The plan has been distributed to clubs for discussion and will be put before delegates at the April meeting of the Board.

Congratulations to the Clann na nGael team who captured the Connacht GAA Seachtain na Gaeilge Table Quiz title in Ballyhaunis last Wednesday night. They will be joined in the All-Ireland Final, which takes place in Croke Park on St. Patrick’s Day, by Leitrim club Bornacoola. Roscommon's other representatives performed well with Elphin finishing fourth and Tulsk Lord Edwards close behind.

Details of the Gaeltacht Grant competition will be emailed to all Club Secretaries shortly and will also be available on www.gaaroscommon.ie

All club members are reminded that membership payments for the current year are now due. At the time of going to print there are over 4,700 members registered in the county.
