Sionann O’Reilly Collins from Kiltoom, a 16-year-old pupil at the
Athlone Community College was selected for the Irish Tetrathlon team for the
Senior UK Pony Club Regional and International Tetrathlon Competition (5th-7th
of August) in Peterborough Sionann had a great shoot taking 920 out of 1000 points
and followed this up with an excellent swim, a great Cross Country run and a
clear Cross Country ride on a challenging course. Sionann was in second place
but dropped to sixth after a few faults on the course jumping.
The International
competitions were won by the Republic of Ireland for both the girls team which
included Sionann and the Irish boys team. Sionann came 6th in the
International 4th in the Invitational event. The International Teams
went on to compete at the Irish Pony Club Tetrathlon Championships, held at
Tattersalls August 12-14th where Sionann took 2nd place
overall in the National Senior Individual girls.
