On the 10th June 2011 the Roscommon Community Games fields events took place in Skyvalley FC grounds, Taughmaconnell. Out of our nine athletics who took part we won three gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze.   Conor Shanagher won gold in the U-14 boys shot and won bronze in the boys U-15 long kick competition. Celine Bance won the girls U-14 shot and came second in the girls U-15 long kick. Jennifer McCormack came 2nd in the girls U-14 shot, missing out on gold by 1 centimetre. Liam laPina came 5th in the boys U-14 shot putt.

A big thank you to Mark Treacy who trained our shot putt athletes. Niamh Shanagher won the girls U-12 ball throw. Well done to out other competitors: Ruth Walsh, Daniel Garvey, Rory Cunningham and Chloe Mannion who represented our community very well. All the best to Conor, Celine and Niamh in the national finals in August.

The track events took place in Ballyleague last Saturday and Sunday well done to all our athletes.
