CP U12s played Cloonfad recently in the semi-final of the cup in Tarmon. Cloonfad started the better and were rewarded with an early goal when a long ball caught the CP defence out. CP then started to come into the game through Dylan Carbin and when Dylan was fouled outside the 18-yard box David Coyne scored from a perfect free to the top corner. CP started to gain control and from a corner a Cloonfad defender handled the ball to give a penalty to CP, Dylan Carbin converting to make it 2-1. Cloonfad were now down to ten men. At half-time it was 2-1 to CP.
In the second half Cloonfad started stronger and applied all the pressure but from a long ball on the break Fergal Moylan scored from close-range to leave it 3-1. Cloonfad continued to attack and were rewarded with a goal towards the end but when Aaron Brady scored for CP it left the final score at 4-2. CP now play Roscommon in the final.
Our U11s were away in Dysart last Thursday and enjoyed a comfortable win with goals from Daniel Connolly (4), Dylan Carbin (2) and an own goal giving us a 7-1 victory.
Our U10s played Roscommon in Tarmon last Friday losing out 2-0 in the Europa League and in what was a good game in the Champions League going down 4-3. Our goals came from Daniel Connolly (2) and Padraic Conway with a cracker late in the game.
Our U10 girls took part in a blitz final in Tarmon on Saturday, finishing in 3rd place against strong opposition.
The club wish the best of luck to Jimmy Connolly who represents CP in the Kennedy Cup this week in Limerick. Don’t forget Packie Bonner will be in Tarmon on the 10th July. A fun-filled day is being planned for all ages, both young and old.
