Mount Talbot Handball: This June Mount Talbot Handball Club is set to host its very own Open One Wall Singles Competition in the Mattie McDonagh Centre Ballygar on June 17th to 19th. This competition is open to players from all over the country and will cater for all grades from Beginner to Open and U10 to Masters.

The competition is ideally placed on the handball calendar for those players wishing to practice prior to the One Wall Nationals in Breaffy House Hotel just two short weeks from then. With three indoor courts and the finals to take place outdoors (weather-permitting) in the clubs recently restored handball alley, the event is sure to be an occasion not to be missed.

With Robbie McCarthy and Charlie Shanks both set to take part a potential re-match of the final of the 2010 one wall nationals is a possibility with McCarthy looking to overturn that particular result on this occasion. Another member of the Irish one-wall federations cup team, James Doyle, will also be battling for glory.

In the Ladies category both reigning nationals champion Lorraine Havern, and former champion Marianna Rushe, are set to take to the court. The ladies take part in another high-class field also, containing Ashley Prendiville and former minor champion, Amy Corrigan.

The juvenile grades are not be outdone either with numerous world champions taking part including Lauren OíRiordan of Roscommon.

Refreshments and entertainment are planned for the Saturday night. For further details see (www.mounttalbothandball.gaa.ie). Alternatively why not look us up on Facebook (Mount Talbot Handball Club) or contact the club directly (Liam on 087-7687785).
