Award-winners at the Roscommon Drama Festival 2011 secured major victories recently in the RTE All-Ireland Final in Athlone – albeit in reverse order!
Kilmeen Drama Group from Cork swept the boards when they won the RTÉ All-Ireland Drama Festival Perpetual Trophy with Tom Murphy’s ‘Whistle in the Dark’.
They also won awards for Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and Best Stage setting. Prosperous from Kildare came in second, having won many festivals on the circuit, including Roscommon.
Roscommon Drama Festival wish to congratulate all the award-winners and also to congratulate D.A.D.S. Drama Group from Dunmore who came second in the recent All-Ireland Confined Competition with a magnificent production of ‘The Good Father’ by Christian O’Reilly.
