Frank Feighan, TD has welcomed funding totalling almost €265,000 for the Family Life Centre in Boyle and Vita House Family Centre in Roscommon Town. The Family Life Centre is the beneficiary of €152,000 while Vita House Family Centre receives €112,500.
“I welcome the Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald’s funding approval for these two organisations which have a proven track record in the speciality of services they provide,” said Deputy Feighan.
“The Family Life Centre in Boyle has a very varied and extensive programme involving workshops, support groups for men and women, counselling and psychotherapy, violence against women services and parent care.
“Vita House also offers a wide range of professional counselling services for individuals, couples, families, children and teenagers. The centre also engages in ongoing research and outreach programmes as requested by the local community.
“Both organisations do fantastic support work in areas requiring deep sensitivity such as family mediation, suicide and cancer support. Both centres also rely heavily on the work of volunteers.
“The Roscommon allocations are part of the €7 million in funding allocated nationally to 28 major organisations which provide a wide range of specialist counselling services and supports nationwide.
“This current funding is the third payment to these organisations in a three year multi-annual funding cycle. It has enabled the organisations concerned to plan and develop quality services over the period,” concluded the Fine Gael TD.
