Roscommon Pool League Cup semi-finals

Kennys 9 Sissy McGintys 5: Sissy McGintys reign as county champions finally ended after Kenny’s of Ballintubber continued their excellent run in the competition, ousting the champions by 9 frames to 5.

Charlie’s A 9 Silver Eel 3: Charlie’s A continued the excellent form which they have produced all year with a decisive victory over former champions The Silver Eel, thus booking their place in the final for the second time, having been runners-up two years ago. They now play Kenny’s in the final and a new winner of the cup is guaranteed.

Shield semi-finals

Cosy Bar 6 Hollywood Bar 9: The Hollywood Bar of Roscommon town booked their place in the final of the shield for the first time after a tough match against the Cosy Bar in Castlerea last Friday night.

Kate’s Bar 9 Charlie’s B 7: Kate’s Bar reached their first final after a hard-fought victory over a gallant Charlie’s B team in Kate’s Bar of Castlerea last Friday night. The teams finished level in Charlie’s the previous week and this match ebbed and flowed with some excellent pool played by both teams – however Kate’s prevailed 5-3 on the night and 9-7 overall.

There is very good news for a Roscommon Town youth in the world of pool as Neil Hennelly has qualified to play for Ireland in the World U21 Championships as a result of trial games held over the weekend.

Neil travelled to Cavan for the trials over the weekend and impressed the team management and will play for Ireland in the Championships which will be held in Blackpool in the UK on the 25th June.
