Roscommon minors in action in Croke Park

Itís a huge day for Roscommon minor footballers this Saturday as they play New York in the Connacht Championship in Croke Park at 3 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for our young players and the Coaching Corner wishes management and players the very best of luck. With this game in Croke Park it gives our clubs a great chance to bring their young players to cheer on the lads.

Coaching and games development meeting

The next meeting of Roscommon coaching and games development committee is on next Tuesday night, April 26th at 8.30 pm in the Roscommon GAA County Board office. All members are asked to attend.

Best wishes to seniors

The Coaching Corner would like to wish Roscommon senior team and management the very best of luck against Longford in the Allianz NFL Division Four final on this Saturday evening in Croke Park at 5 pm.

Roscommon defeat Offaly in U15 development game

Roscommon U15 football development squad defeated Offaly by 2-13 to 1-10 last week in the final of a special four-team tournament organised by Laois GAA. The next training session for the squad is on Saturday April 30th in Kilbride at 10.30 am. The lads played some great football in Clann na nGael last Wednesday evening week against the Leinster boys.

Roscommon U17 football development squad

All clubs are asked to email Willie Hegarty on with names of players who are of the required standard to form our U17 development football squad for 2011. It is hoped to have our first session on Saturday, May 7th in Kilbride. Garreth Carroll will take charge of the squad again this year.

U12 Go Games blitz part two

The second of our U12 football Go Games blitzs will be held on Saturday, April 30th at six different venues. All clubs will receive details this week regarding groups, times and venues. Last Saturday we had a great turn-out in part one of our blitzs at six different venues and the Coaching Corner would like to thank all host clubs and Ollie Kelly who appointed the referees for their help and assistance.

U8/U10 Go Games blitzs for May/June

At our U8/U10 football and hurling Go Games blitz launch on Monday night week last all clubs received their groups for our May and June blitzs. All club coaching officers also received the details by email. Each club will play home and away at both U8/U10 level over the next six weeks. County U8 Go Games blitz will be held in Dr. Hyde Park on Saturday June 11th.

Primary schools Go Games blitzs

All our football and hurling Go Games blitzs will take place after the Easter holidays. This term it is 3rd and 4th class in football and 5th and 6th class boys and girls in hurling. All blitzs will be run by our full and part time coaches along with our TY students from the various secondary schools.

Applications for VHI Cul camp employment

Roscommon Coaching and Games Development are inviting applications from third level students for employment on our Football and Hurling VHI Cul Camps for 2011. We urge all students to send in their CV to GAA Games Manager Willie Hegarty by email to by April 29th. All students who apply must ensure they have received GAA Garda clearance. No person can be employed this year without being Garda vetted.
