Following her very successful concert last year, internationally acclaimed vocalist and harpist Annette Griffin, with accompanist Brendan O’Beirne, will present a totally new programme of musical items in St. Patrick’s Church, Cloverhill on Easter Sunday, 24th April. The concert, which begins at 8 pm, is in aid of Cloverhill Church Fund. Tickets are €20 and are available from Donnie Gunning (087-2303779) or they can be purchased at Eight ‘Til Late, Roscommon.
A native of Ballymoe, Annette studied music at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, voice technique in Los Angeles, U.S., and completed further studies with Dr. Veronica Dunne in Dublin.
She is a renowned harpist, hosting her own show at Ashford Castle, Cong, Co. Mayo for a number of years. Annette has toured the U.S., Europe, U.K, Mexico and Hawaii. She has performed at Government receptions, marking the official visit to Ireland of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, and was invited to Sweden to entertain the King and Queen, Carl and Sylvia Gustoff.
Since last year’s concert, as well as hosting her own six night a week shows at Ashford Castle, Annette has performed in concert in St. Croan’s Church, Ballymoe and in comparatively recent times, she has performed in the U.S., notably in New York, Michigan and Florida.
In the first week of April, Annette hosted a musical evening at Ashford Castle, honouring Prince Albert of Monaco, who had been visiting his ancestral home in Co. Mayo (see photograph alongside).
Oran Parish Pastoral council considers it is a great honour and priviledge to have Annette give expression to her unique musical talents on Easter Sunday night in St. Patrick’s Church, Cloverhill, where yet another special night to remember is assured.
