Buccaneers take on Garryowen in the Ulster Bank League Division1 promotion/relegation play-off at Dooradoyle, Limerick, on Saturday, kick off 2.30 pm. The midlanders get one final bite at the promotion cherry while the light blues, Cup finalists last season and league champions just one year earlier, will be battling to preserve their Division 1A status. With so much at stake for both clubs, a monumental battle in front of a bumper attendance is a likely prospect. At time of writing, the date for Buccaneers much anticipated U21 Connacht Cup final joust with Galwegians has not been advised. Also, rumours abound that Buccs Thirds may yet have another Ard-Na-Cregg Cup outing, so keep training guys!
Buccaneers thirds enjoyed an entertaining 38-20 Connacht Junior 2A League victory over Sligo Seconds at sun-soaked Dubarry Park, Athlone, on Sunday. The merited win moves the Athlone club up to third place in the league table. Congratulations to Buccaneers U-16 squad on bouncing back from last week’s defeat by Westport to overcome the Mayo boys in the Connacht U-16 League final. Congrats also to Barry Digby on joining Robert Henshaw on the Ireland U18 Schools squad. Well done too to Longford RFC on gaining promotion in the Leinster league. The scoring exploits of former Bucc Colm Glynn helped them secure their goal under the stewardship of another well known Buccaneer Niall Moran.
