GAA Coaching Corner

Course in Oran

The last hurling foundation course of the season will take place in Clooneycolgan NS on this Friday night at 7pm sharp. The second part will take place on Saturday morning. For further information please contact Proinsias Killion or Michael Carroll.

U21 team

The Coaching Corner would like to wish the Roscommon U21 football team and management the very best of luck in the Connacht U21 final against Galway in Pearse Stadium at 3 pm on Saturday. 

Go Games football blitz

The primary schools INTO mini sevens will take place on this Thursday, March 31st at Dr Hyde Park commencing at 10.45 am. The formula for the blitz will be run on the Go Games format.

Go Games launch

The launch of the U8/U10 football and hurling Go Games blitzes will take place in the Roscommon GAA county board offices on Monday night April 18th at 9 pm. Special guest on the night will be Connacht GAA Games Manager John Tobin. At the launch clubs will receive their groups for the May and June blitzes. Clubs will receive more information closer to the time.

Board meeting

The next meeting of the Roscommon Sports Partnership board is on Monday night April 4th at 6 pm sharp.

Sponsorship cheque

Roscommon coaching and games development would like to thank the Roscommon supporters club in Dublin for their kind sponsorship cheque towards underage coaching within the County for 2010. The presentation was made at half time during the recent Roscommon NFL game against Fermanagh in Kiltoom. The supporters club have being very good to Roscommon GAA over the years.

Minor league

Roscommon play Sligo in round four of the Connacht minor football league on this Saturday April 2nd. Please check fixtures in local papers for venue and time.

Cul camp employment

Roscommon Coaching and Games Development are inviting applications from third level students for employment on our Football and Hurling VHI Cul Camps for 2011. We urge all students to send in their CV to GAA Games Manager Willie Hegarty by email to by March 31st. All students who apply must ensure they have received GAA Garda clearance. No person can be employed this year without being Garda vetted. Roscommon Coaching and Games Development will shortly be announcing all their dates and venues for this years Roscommon GAA VHI Cúl Camps in both football and hurling.

Into the West

Articles and photographs are now invited for the next edition of Into the West, the magazine of the Connacht GAA Council. GAA clubs and other units with items for inclusion should send them to the magazine’s editor Liam Horan at, or by post to Liam Horan, The Farmyard, Liskillen, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo. Clubs and other units of the GAA can avail of the magazine to publicise events they are planning to hold in the near future. The next edition of the magazine will be released early in September and anyone wishing to sign up for the free e-zine version should email their details to
