Egan to represent Ireland

The Widow Pat's and Roscommon Inter county darts player Mick Egan will be part of the Republic of Ireland six-a-side darts team that take part in the annual 6 Nations Cup in Scotland next weekend. The Six Nations Cup, featuring the national teams (men and women) of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, The Republic of Ireland and The Netherlands, will be played at the Erskine Bridge Hotel, Erskine, Renfrewshire on February 25th, 26th and 27th. English men and women will be defending the titles they won at last years running in Sligo, when John Boy Walton produced the first ever nine-darter in an international match. Mick Egan qualified for the team on the back of a very good run in last year’s INDO ranking season. He is wished every success on the weekend.

Roscommon County Darts League. Round 16 Results: A decision on when to play the deferred Round 10 games will be made this week. One option is playing Round 10 on Wednesday March 2nd as not to prolong the semi final and final schedule. It's hoped to have the finals night on Saturday, March 26th. Any other delayed games are asked to be played as soon as possible. Spell's Sean Corcoran equaled the League’s highest checkout on Friday night with a 161 effort against The Widow Pat's Scobie Connaughton who had a 123 checkout of his own. The Hollywood's Joe McGrath hammered in a 157 in his sides 5-2 defeat at home to Creaton's. Sean Finan and Lennie Docherty continue to slug it out for top spot on the 180's table. Both have six now for the league, having added another one each on Friday night. Jimmy Reilly and Michael Morohan also had a 180 each. Flanagan's, Castleplunkett 4, McDermott's, Ballinaheglish 3 (14-12 on legs). Widow Pat's, Knockcroghery 4, Spell's, Ballaghaderreen 3 (15-12 on legs). The Hollywood, Roscommon 2, Creaton's, Loughglynn 5 (12-16 on legs). Kate's, Castlerea 6, The Chariot, Frenchpark 1 (18-5 on legs). Round 17. February 25th, 10 pm: Creaton's, Loughglynn v Timmy's, Elphin. McDermott's, Ballinaheglish v Hollywood, Roscommon. Spell's, Ballaghaderreen v Flanagan's, Castleplunkett. The Chariot, Frenchpark v Widow Pat's, Knockcroghery.  

Sunday, March 6th. 2pm: The 6th Annual Martin Kelly Memorial Cup in The Hollywood Bar, Roscommon town. Names in for 1.30 pm. Entry fee €15. Games begin 2 pm. Prizefund Money in/ Money out + €200. Trophies for winner, runner-up, beaten semi finalists, Lady of the Tournament, and Highest Checkout. Raffle on day in aid of cancer research. The Tommy Kenny Cup darts tournament which was deferred due to the bad weather over the winter has been set for Sunday, March 20th.
