Heritage award presented for Lecarrow event

An Irish Walled Town Heritage Day at Rinn Duin organised by St. John’s Parish Heritage Group, Lecarrow, was presented with an Award for Best Event organised by a Community Group during National Heritage Week 2010 at a reception in the Heritage Council offices in Kilkenny on Friday.

The Award was presented to organiser Richard Collins from St. John’s Parish Heritage Group, Lecarrow, by Chairman of the Heritage Council, Conor Newman and Head of Communications and Education Isabell Smyth.

The event was held on Sunday 22nd August 2010. Highlights included clay pipe making demonstrations, costumed guides throughout the medieval trail at Rinn Duin, and demonstrations and workshops by the Irish Field Archery Associations.


Rags to riches

Everyone’s favourite rags-to-riches story, Cinderella, will feature in the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone, on Thursday, February 24th at 8 pm.

Ballet Theatre UK are bringing their production of the classic ballet to local audiences. Cinderella is tormented by her spiteful stepsisters and would do anything to attend the Prince’s glamorous ball. Rejected, upset and alone, Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother intervenes and transforms her into a glittering Princess who shall go to the ball.

Catch me if you can

Catch me if you can, a hilarious new comedy play written by local playwright Margaret McKenna Mullan and directed by Eoin Croffy, makes its debut in the Passionfruit Theatre on Thursday February 24th and runs for five consecutive nights until Monday February 28th.
