Seamus Duke

There is shock and sadness at news this week that well-known Castlerea company Finola Foods have closed down with the loss of 12 jobs. The company had been in business in Castlerea for the past 15 years or so and they produced catering products for the home market.

The company went into liquidation and closed on Tuesday of this week. Local Fianna Fail Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice said that the closure would be a big blow to the town of Castlerea.

“This is very bad news for the town. This has been a great company for the town over the years and it is a shame to hear that it has closed. Jobs are hard to come by and this company had grown up and prospered in Castlerea over a decade and a half and it is sad to see it go” he said.

Finola Foods dealt in the catering sector and specialised in quality hams and other products like coleslaws, garlic breads, etc. The company were based at the IDA Park in Castlerea town.
