Strokestown Show launch on Friday night

Strokestown’s two day Agricultural and Industrial Show will be launched this Friday night at the Percy French Hotel at 8 pm.

The show office has been opened at the Strokestown Community Development Office and reports of very keen interest in entry to all classes at the two-day show which is one of the most successful shows in the country.

There are classes for all breeds of cattle, and the All-Ireland Connacht Gold Beef Bullock Championship and All-Ireland Beef Heifer Championship will draw a large crowd, while All-Ireland classes in many other sectors, including the Angus section, will all generate a lot of interest with the general public.

A new addition to the show this year is the new tented village for small business and community groups, and the Show Committee are reporting keen interest in this new idea. The Rose of Strokestown is again creating huge interest with the winner gaining some very valuable prizes and entry to Roscommon Rose of Tralee final 2011.

Special guest at this year’s Show on Sunday will be Carol from the popular RTE soap Fair City. Also guesting on the day will this year’s Roscommon Rose of Tralee Deirdre Lenihan who is a very popular Roscommon Rose of 2010.

More details of all events will be unveiled at the Show launch on Friday night next at the Percy French Hotel.
