Thieves target sites
A spate of thefts of valuable tools from building
sites throughout the county is currently being investigated by Gardaí.
Numerous
incidents have occurred in recent weeks and this week tools valued at over
€8,000 were stolen in separate incidents in Roscommon and Ballaghaderreen. In
both cases, the sites were broken into overnight and valuable tools removed.
Over
€4,000 worth of equipment was taken from a house under construction at Sligo
Road, Ballaghaderreen on Tuesday night. The burglary occurred between 6 pm on
Tuesday evening and 7.30 am on Wednesday. Tools stolen include skill saws,
timber saws and levels. The thieves forced the rear door of one of the houses
under construction which was used for storage. Gardaí in Castlerea have
appealed for information on the matter and are particularly interested in
hearing from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or who was offered

Gardaí
in Roscommon town are investigating the theft of a rock breaker worth in the
region of €4,500 from a construction site at Centre Point on the Circular Road
last weekend. The theft took place between mid-day on Saturday and 8 am on
Monday morning. Gardaí are appealing to the public for information.
Gardaí
in Roscommon Town also report that damage was caused to the front and rear
windows at a house under construction at Ballybride last weekend. The incident
happened between 6 pm on Friday evening last and 9 am on Saturday morning.
