News at a Glance 1

Two peak challenge for Ballinasloe Eagles

The coming together of two groups in the community for a fantastic day out occurred on Saturday, 17th April on Diamond Hill in Connemara National Park. The Ballinasloe Eagles Special Olympic Team joined forces with The Rosway Walkers to complete a two-peak challenge and to raise funds for the Special Olympics in Ballinasloe.

The day started with an early morning climb of Croagh Patrick in Co. Mayo by a group of the Rosway Walkers. They then travelled onto Letterfrack to join up with a large group from the Eagles along with their family and supporters and a further group of Rosway Walkers. After some chat, refreshments and the distraction of the playground, the ascent of Diamond Hill was attempted by both groups. The fabulous weather added to the enjoyment of the walk. A great welcoming cheer with banners welcomed the walkers back to the base of the mountain.

The general consensus was that it was a fantastic day out for all but the highlight for everyone was the making of new friends with another group in community. Thanks to the event organisers, to Lucy Wallace in particular and to all the sponsors for their generous support.
